What is Taekwon Do?
Taekwon Do is a Korean martial art, codified by General Choi Hong Hi, based on thousands of years of the county's martial arts history.
Roughly translated, "Taekwon Do" means "the way of the hand and foot", or "the art of hand and foot". "Tae" means "foot," "leg," or "to smash with the foot"; "Kwon" means "fist," or "fight"; and "Do" means the "way" or "discipline."
Taekwon Do is one of the world's most popular martial arts, practised by an estimated 70 million people worldwide. It is a dynamic martial art, famed for benefitting health, fitness, self-confidence, flexibility, and ability to defend oneself.
